Remaining Tickets Available for Jang Yoon-jeong's Trot Concert Amid Declining Popularity
Trot singer Jang Yoon-jeong's concert still has tickets available, reflecting the genre's waning popularity compared to its past peak. This presents a great opportunity for fans who have long wanted to see Jang Yoon-jeong perform live, as she has thoroughly prepared for this event.
Jang Yoon-jeong is set to hold her live concert on the 28th at the EXCO Convention Hall in Daegu. The concert will have two sessions, one at 2 PM and another at 6 PM.
Despite being dubbed the 'Queen of Trot,' Jang Yoon-jeong's concert has not sold out, even though it is scheduled for the weekend. As of 10 PM on the 26th, according to Interpark, there are 24 VIP seats, 395 R seats, and 160 S seats available for the 2 PM show on September 28. For the 6 PM show, 15 VIP seats, 432 R seats, and 157 S seats remain. The primary reason for the lackluster ticket sales is the decline in trot's popularity. Industry insiders note that, apart from stars like Lim Young-woong and Lee Chan-won, it is challenging for trot concerts to sell out in advance. During the peak of 'Mr. Trot' and 'Miss Trot' Season 1, scalped tickets were rampant, but that fervor has since cooled. However, on-site ticket sales still play a significant role, given that the primary fan base is older.
Despite the high supply, ticket prices remain a barrier. For Jang Yoon-jeong's concert, VIP seats are priced at 143,000 KRW, R seats at 132,000 KRW, and S seats at 121,000 KRW. Given the high proportion of VIP and R seats, two people would need to spend between 260,000 KRW and 280,000 KRW for decent seats. While these prices are comparable to typical idol concerts, the lower demand for trot means that ticket sales are more sensitive to price. Industry stakeholders must consider the inverse relationship between price and ticket sales to set appropriate ticket prices. Ryu Ye-ji, TenAsia Reporter ryuperstar@tenasia.co.kr
