Enhyphen sings BTS' 'I NEED U' again
According to Belif Lab on the 16th, Enhypen (Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunwoo, Nikki) will release a remake of 'I NEED U - Spotify Singles' through the 'Spotify Singles' program at 1 PM on this day. 'Spotify Singles' is Spotify's exclusive program that allows artists to re-record their own songs, cover songs by other artists, or record new songs.
'I NEED U' is the title song of BTS' third mini album 'Hwayangyeonhwa pt.1', released in 2015. It is an electro hip-hop song incorporating an urban style, and it gained great popularity as it contains a heartbreaking desire to hold on to a love that is falling toward the end. Enhyphen reinterpreted this song with their own sensibility. Instead of the electronic synth sound of the original song, they present a sweet version of the song with calm acoustic instruments added. In addition, Enhyphen plans to double the charm of the song by adding a performance that sincerely conveys the emotions of the lyrics.
Enhyphen's 'I NEED U - Spotify Singles' remake is included in Spotify's first K-Pop Editorial Playlist 'K-Pop ON!' It was planned to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its launch. Three teams of K-pop artists are releasing 'Spotify Singles' music in turn under the theme of 'My First K-Pop Crush', and Enhyphen is the first to do so.
Enhypen explained the reason why they chose 'I NEED U' among the songs by BTS, a K-pop artist they always respect, saying, "We want to convey our unique charm through music and performance with a lyrical atmosphere." Enhypen continued, “It is meaningful to be able to tell the story of our first K-pop love through a song that all members love. I heard that this is the first time producer Bang Si-hyuk has approved the arrangement of a BTS senior's song. “I am also honored that you directly participated in the arrangement,” he added.
Enhyphen is showing strong performance on Spotify based on its solid global popularity. The song 'FEVER' from their 2nd mini album 'BORDER: CARNIVAL' has exceeded 300 million cumulative views, and the combined cumulative number of plays of the songs they have released reaches 2.87 billion as of the 12th. The average daily number of Enhyphen songs played, which was 2.1 million as of July last year, recently increased to 2.46 million.
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN will hold an encore performance 'ENHYPEN WORLD TOUR 'FATE PLUS' IN SEOUL' at KSPO DOME, Songpa-gu, Seoul from the 23rd to the 25th.
