The only intersection between Chen Baeksi and SM is EXO... Living separately while renewing contract is in effect

Group EXO unit Chen Baeksi (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin) is virtually starting to live separately. After signing a contract renewal with SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as SM), they went through a dispute and eventually decided to live separately through detailed clause adjustments. Baekhyun officially announced that he would establish the independent label I&B 100 and work with Chen and Xiumin on all activities other than EXO.

On the 8th, Baekhyun formalized the full-fledged start of the independent label company I&B 100. Xiumin and Chen will join this label and carry out individual activities.

Chen Baeksi said, “Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen’s individual activities and team activities as ‘CBX’ will be conducted by I&B 100, while EXO’s group activities will be conducted by SM.” SM also said, "In the case of Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, we have agreed with the company that under the above exclusive contract, the artists can proceed separately with individual activities only." Considering the positions of both Chen Baeksi and SM, EXO is the only group where they will meet, and Chen Baekshi's activities and solo activities will be carried out separately.

Previously, CBX signed a contract renewal with SM, but experienced a contract dispute last June. The conflict was resolved dramatically, and detailed provisions related to the establishment of an independent label and individual activities were adjusted. Since it is contract-related, the details have not been disclosed, but it is presumed that details about the members' separate lives under independent labels may have been added or subtracted within the scope of the contract renewal signed by Chenbaeksi.

Chen Baeksi, who has been with the group for about 12 years since his debut in 2012, has started a separate life from all entertainment activities except EXO and has become independent from SM.

Meanwhile, Baekhyun had already established I&B 100 on June 23 last year (exclusively reported by Ten Asia on the 3rd). Baekhyun is the CEO of the company and has completed all registration as an internal director.

At the time of resolving the contract dispute with Chenbaeksi, SM said, "The new exclusive contract with the three members is still in effect. We cannot disclose specific settlement conditions, but in accordance with the agreement with the company, we have allowed the three members of Chen Baeksi to engage in individual activities."
