NewJeans' 'Super Shy' surpasses 400 million streams on Spotify
According to Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, on the 5th, the title song 'Super Shy' of New Jeans' (Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, Hyein)'s second EP 'Get Up' sold 489,304 as of the 3rd. It was played again. This is New Genes' fourth song to reach 400 million streams, following 'OMG', 'Ditto', and 'Hype Boy'.
'Super Shy' is an impressive song with a bouncy sound based on Jersey Club rhythm and exciting beats, and it gained great popularity by sweeping domestic and international charts as soon as it was released in July of last year. This song stayed on the US Billboard main song chart 'Hot 100' and the UK Official Singles Chart 'Top 100' for 8 and 9 weeks, respectively, peaking at 48th and 52nd. In addition, 'Super Shy' broke New Genes' own highest ranking record on several charts, including entering the 'Top 10' on Spotify Global and the US 'Daily Top Songs'.
Based on this global craze, 'Super Shy' received favorable reviews by being selected as one of the 'Best Songs of 2023' announced at the end of the year by leading overseas media such as Rolling Stone, Vulture, and Pitchfork in the United States, and NME and Guardian in the United Kingdom.
New Genes has produced a total of 10 Spotify streaming songs worth hundreds of millions of dollars so far. ‘OMG’ and ‘Ditto’ over 500 million views, ‘Super Shy’ and ‘Hype Boy’ over 400 million times each, ‘Attention’ over 300 million times, ‘Cookie’, ‘Hurt’, and ‘New Jeans’ , ‘ETA’, and ‘Cool With You’ were each streamed over 100 million times. The combined cumulative streaming count on Spotify for all songs released so far is approximately 3.4 billion.
