NewJeans won 2 awards at the Japan Record Awards and performed 3 songs

NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Hae-rin, Hye-in) will be participating in the 65th Shine! on TBS Japan, which was broadcast live from 5:30 pm on the 30th. It won the ‘Excellent Work Award’ and the ‘Special Award’ at the Japan Record Awards (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Japan Record Awards’).
The 'Excellent Work Award' is an award given to songs that were very popular with the public among the songs released that year. In this category, NewJeans was also nominated for the grand prize, as 'Ditto' became the first foreign song to win the award.
The 'Special Award' is an award given to an artist or song that became a hot topic that year, and New Genes is the only foreign artist to win this category this year. Just this year alone, three songs ('Ditto', 'OMG', and 'Hype Boy') received streaming 'Platinum' certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Additionally, 'Ditto' and 'OMG' received great love, reaching 100 million cumulative streams on Oricon.
NewJeans said through their agency ADOR, “We are very happy and grateful to receive such a meaningful award and to be nominated for the grand prize,” adding, “The various stages we performed in Japan this year, including ‘Summer Sonic,’ are memorable. I will work harder and show you growth in the future. “I am always grateful to ‘Bunnies (fandom name),’” he said.
Upon receiving the award, NewJeans was the only artist nominated for the grand prize to perform three complete songs. It was said that it was quite an unusual treatment for a foreign artist who had not yet officially debuted in Japan to be given this opportunity on a stage where many artists who performed the best throughout the year appeared.
NewJeans thrilled local fans with an overwhelming stage to match. Revealing their individuality in school uniform style, they livened up the atmosphere with a lovely performance of 'Ditto' and then gave a lively performance of 'ETA', one of the triple title songs of the second EP 'Get Up' released in July this year, and the b-side song 'New Jeans'. was presented one after another, heating up the awards ceremony scene.
NewJeans will join NHK's 'Red and White Song Festival', Japan's largest year-end song festival, which will be held today (31st) at 7:20 PM, as a special invited singer and mark the grand finale in 2023. NewJeans will perform a special medley of ‘OMG’, ‘Ditto’, and ‘ETA’ at ‘Kongbaek Gahapsen’. This was also evaluated as ‘very unusual treatment’ and received attention from Japanese local media.
In addition, on the same day, NewJeans also entertained viewers with the Korean stage of 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024' broadcast on ABC in the United States. meet 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' can be seen on ABC starting at 8 PM on the 31st (10 AM on January 1, Korean time).
