NewJeans won 2 awards at the Japan Record Awards and performed 3 songs
NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Hae-rin, Hye-in) will be participating in the 65th Shine! on TBS Japan, which was broadcast live from 5:30 pm on the 30th. It won the ‘Excellent Work Award’ and the ‘Special Award’ at the Japan Record Awards (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Japan Record Awards’).
The 'Excellent Work Award' is an award given to songs that were very popular with the public among the songs released that year. In this category, NewJeans was also nominated for the grand prize, as 'Ditto' became the first foreign song to win the award.
The 'Special Award' is an award given to an artist or song that became a hot topic that year, and New Genes is the only foreign artist to win this category this year. Just this year alone, three songs ('Ditto', 'OMG', and 'Hype Boy') received streaming 'Platinum' certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Additionally, 'Ditto' and 'OMG' received great love, reaching 100 million cumulative streams on Oricon.
NewJeans said through their agency ADOR, “We are very happy and grateful to receive such a meaningful award and to be nominated for the grand prize,” adding, “The various stages we performed in Japan this year, including ‘Summer Sonic,’ are memorable. Upon receiving the award, NewJeans was the only artist nominated for the grand prize to perform three complete songs.
