'The King and the Man' Surpasses 13.84 Million Viewers, Ranks 6th in Box Office History

The film 'The King and the Man' directed by Jang Hang-jun has surpassed 13.84 million viewers, securing the 6th spot in the all-time box office rankings.

According to the Integrated Computer Network for Movie Tickets, 'The King and the Man' maintained its number one position at the box office on the 18th. It attracted 124,110 viewers on that day, bringing its total audience to 13,846,269. This achievement has allowed it to surpass 'Frozen 2' (2019, 13.76 million) and enter the top 6 in box office history. There is growing interest in whether it will surpass 'Avengers: Endgame' (2019, 13.97 million) to break into the top 5.

'The King and the Man' became the 34th film in history to reach 10 million viewers on the 6th. The film is set in 1457 Cheongryeongpo and tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself for the prosperity of his village and a young dethroned king in exile. The film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.

The second spot at the box office was claimed by 'Project Hail Mary' directed by Phil Lord, which premiered on the same day. It attracted 76,003 viewers, with a total audience of 78,054.

'Project Hail Mary' follows the journey of Grace (Ryan Gosling), who wakes up alone in the middle of space with no memory and is tasked with a final mission to save humanity from an impending apocalypse. Ryan Gosling and Sandra Wheeler star in the film.

In third place was 'Method Acting' directed by Lee Ki-hyuk, which also premiered on the same day. It drew 8,269 viewers, with a total audience of 11,857.

'Method Acting' is a meta-comedy about a 'funny actor' Lee Dong-hwi, who rose to fame through comedy but wants to be recognized for his serious acting. The film explores his journey as he becomes overly immersed in his role.

Other films in the top rankings include 'Hoppers' directed by Daniel Chong in fourth place and 'Bomb' directed by Nagai Akira in fifth.
