'The King and the Man' Surpasses 13.6 Million Viewers, Eyes Top 5 Box Office Spot
The film 'The King and the Man' directed by Jang Hang-jun has surpassed 13.6 million viewers.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets, 'The King and the Man' maintained its number one position at the box office on the 16th. It recorded a daily audience of 133,941 and a cumulative audience of 13,601,732.

Ranked 7th in all-time box office hits, 'The King and the Man' is anticipated to break into the top 5. Currently, the 6th place is held by 'Frozen 2' (2019, 13.76 million), and the 5th place by 'Avengers: Endgame' (2019, 13.97 million).

'The King and the Man' became the 34th film in history to surpass 10 million viewers on the 6th. The film is set in 1457 Cheongnyeongpo and tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself for the prosperity of his village and a young dethroned king in exile. The main cast includes Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.

However, in real-time ticket sales, 'Project Hail Mary' has overtaken 'The King and the Man' for the top spot.

The second place at the box office is held by the animation 'Hoppers' directed by Daniel Chong. 'Hoppers' attracted a daily audience of 8,186, with a cumulative audience of 539,346.

'Hoppers' is a Pixar animal adventure where a girl named Mabel, transformed into a robot beaver through the 'hopping' technology that transfers human consciousness into animal robots, embarks on an unexpected adventure in a wondrous animal world.

In third place is 'Samakdo' directed by Chae Ki-jun, with a daily audience of 3,743 and a cumulative audience of 61,069. 'Samakdo' depicts the prophecy surrounding a cult that disappeared after the Japanese colonial period and the hell witnessed in a sealed village.

Elsewhere, 'Humint' directed by Ryu Seung-wan is in 4th place, and 'Pride and Prejudice' directed by Joe Wright is in 5th place.
