Actor Lee Dong-hwi Opens Up About Alien Costume Reactions and New Film 'Method Acting'
On the 16th, at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, Lee Dong-hwi, the lead actor of the film 'Method Acting' (directed by Lee Ki-hyuk), discussed his latest project.
'Method Acting' is a film about Lee Dong-hwi, a comedian who wants to be recognized for his serious acting. The story unfolds as he becomes overly immersed in his role. This feature-length project is an expansion of a short film of the same name, with director Lee Ki-hyuk and Lee Dong-hwi collaborating once again to create an immersive meta-comedy.
In the film, Lee Dong-hwi plays a character named 'Lee Dong-hwi,' offering a unique blend of reality and fiction with a witty narrative.
Recently, Lee Dong-hwi appeared in an alien costume on the final episode of KBS 2TV's music talk show 'The Seasons-10CM's Touch,' and he openly addressed the reactions. He admitted, "I feel like I caused some trouble," bowing his head.
He explained, "I once promised the production team that if I appeared again, I would wear a special costume and sing a special song, and they encouraged me, so I took the plunge. No one asked me to do it, but I wanted to promote the film myself."
He added, "I tried to expand the film character into an alter ego, but it seems to have fizzled out. I realized how amazing people who work with alter egos are. In some ways, I think my ambition was too much, and I feel like I caused trouble."
He added, "He has been very supportive, but I feel sorry for causing trouble for him as well," and laughed, "He didn't actively discourage the alien costume."
The film 'Method Acting' is set to release on the 18th.
