Korean Film 'The Man Who Lives with the King' Invited to Udine Far East Film Festival
According to distributor Showbox on the 20th, 'The Man Who Lives with the King' has been officially invited to the main competition section of the 28th Udine Far East Film Festival.
The Udine Far East Film Festival is held annually in the northern Italian city of Udine and is the largest European film festival showcasing Asian films with unique characteristics. Notable Korean films such as 'The Owl,' 'Deliver Us from Evil,' and 'The Man Standing Next' have been invited in the past. Director Jang Hang-jun also won the Audience Award with 'Rebound.'
Sabrina Baracetti, the executive director of the Udine Far East Film Festival, stated, “Director Jang Hang-jun and the outstanding actors have created a fantastic synergy, resulting in a film that delivers deep resonance while also being entertaining. Based on a true story, this film is crafted with a balanced tone, allowing audiences worldwide to comfortably empathize and enjoy it.” She expressed her delight in introducing a hidden story from Korean history to global audiences.
'The Man Who Lives with the King' depicts the heartwarming friendship between a young dethroned king in exile and the village chief who welcomes him. The film is expected to captivate audiences worldwide with its universal humor and deep emotional impact.
Set in 1457 Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself for the village's prosperity and a young dethroned king. As of the 19th, the film has attracted a cumulative audience of 4.41 million. The cast includes Yoo Hae-jin, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.
