Jo In-sung Discusses His Stance on Romance Roles and His Latest Film 'Humint'

Actor Jo In-sung recently shared his thoughts on romance roles during an interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, where he discussed his latest film, 'Humint'.

'Humint' tells the story of individuals who clash in Vladivostok for different reasons. Jo In-sung plays the role of Chief Jo, a National Intelligence Service black agent. His character, while cold and calculating, is driven by a desperate need to save people, adding tension throughout the film.

Regarding his on-screen chemistry with Shin Se-kyung in 'Humint', Jo stated, "I was glad there was no romance. I did a lot of romance roles when I was younger, and while they are well-received, actors like me who have done many can risk self-repetition."

He further explained, "If I were to do romance, it would be in a drama. Drama and romance are inseparable. Movies allow for more genre experimentation, which is why I'm focusing on films."

Jo added, "While love is an important aspect of human life, I want to portray stories that encompass more than just love. I was drawn to the character of Chief Jo because I wanted to explore who he was as a person."

He also left the door open for future romance roles in dramas, saying, "There are specific romance stories for adults, but they are rare. It takes a seasoned writer like Noh Hee-kyung to craft a mature male romance."

The film 'Humint' was released on the 11th.
