Shin Se-kyung Opens Up About Her Fear of Water and Behind-the-Scenes of 'Humint'

Actress Shin Se-kyung candidly shared her fear of water while discussing the behind-the-scenes of the water torture scene in the movie 'Humint'.

On the 9th, Shin Se-kyung, who stars in 'Humint', was interviewed at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

'Humint' tells the story of people who clash in Vladivostok for different purposes. Shin Se-kyung plays Chae Sun-hwa, a North Korean restaurant worker in Vladivostok who becomes an informant for a National Intelligence Service officer, played by Jo In-sung, and finds herself in danger.

Shin Se-kyung cited the strength of the script as the reason for her decision to join the project. She said, "The script was interesting. The character felt attractive, so I didn't hesitate much." She added, "The overall narrative was compelling. I lost track of time while reading the script."

Director Ryoo Seung-wan is known for his dynamic action scenes. When asked if she felt any pressure about the action scenes, she replied, "It would be a lie to say there was none. But that's something you only realize after reading the script, so I decided to read it first." She also recalled, "The character's charm was significant, so there was no reason to hesitate."

In the film, Shin Se-kyung's character undergoes a water torture scene, which conveys the character's pain intensely. Shin Se-kyung revealed, "I have a fear of water. That scene was filmed by a double." Regarding her water phobia, she confessed, "I'm okay with water up to chest level, but when it reaches my respiratory area, it's tough. That scene was my biggest concern in this project." Fortunately, the filming prioritized safety. Shin Se-kyung said, "Thanks to the double, we were able to film safely and smoothly."

'Humint' is set to release on the 11th.
