Shin Se-kyung Reflects on Filming 'Humint' in Latvia: A Journey of Fitness and Friendship
On the 9th, Shin Se-kyung was interviewed at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, about her role in 'Humint'.
'Humint' tells the story of people with different motives colliding in Vladivostok. Shin Se-kyung plays Chae Sun-hwa, a North Korean restaurant worker in Vladivostok who becomes an informant for NIS section chief (played by Jo In-sung) and finds herself in danger.
The film was shot on location in Riga, Latvia, over approximately three months. Shin Se-kyung recalled, "Initially, I was worried about the unfamiliar environment, but honestly, it was fun." She added, "I enjoyed it so much that I want to visit Riga again during a good season. The cost of living was relatively low, and it was a great place to experience culture and food."
As a 'fitness enthusiast', Shin Se-kyung remembers Riga as a 'great city for exercise'. She noted, "It was a good environment for working out."
Even while abroad, Shin Se-kyung visited the gym daily, showcasing her love for fitness. She stated, "I exercise a lot and love it. I consider myself addicted to working out. It's how I keep my body and mind healthy in this line of work." Her favorite exercise is weight training. She mentioned, "I like running, but I prefer weight training. I try to do strength exercises whenever possible."
While she enjoys physical exercise, she doesn't have a growing desire for action roles. With many action scenes in the film, Shin Se-kyung observed the action sequences closely on set. She admitted, "Action is a completely different realm. Watching it up close during this project, I realized it's not something to be taken lightly or attempted recklessly."
The overseas location shoot was made even more special by 'Team Humint'. Shin Se-kyung shared, "I love traveling, but it was even better because of the team I filmed with. While the environment, exercise, and food were satisfying, it was the memories with the team that made it truly special." She added, "Those memories are what made this shoot even more beautiful," showcasing her camaraderie.
'Humint' is set to release on the 11th.
