Shin Si-a and Choo Young-woo Share Chemistry in 'Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight'
In a recent interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, Shin Si-a, the lead actress of 'OSEISA,' shared her experiences.
Released on the 24th, 'OSEISA' is a youth romance film about Seo-yoon (played by Shin Si-a), who loses her memory every day, and Jae-won (played by Choo Young-woo), who helps her remember. The film is an adaptation of Ichijo Misaki's bestselling novel, which sold over 1.3 million copies worldwide. The Japanese version of the film was a massive hit, drawing 1.21 million viewers in Korea and breaking the 20-year record of the Japanese film 'Love Letter.' Shin Si-a plays the role of Seo-yoon, a high school girl suffering from anterograde amnesia due to an accident.
She also mentioned, "Young-woo and I share a similar sense of humor. It's comfortable. We often burst into laughter during date scenes, and the director had to tell us to calm down," she laughed. Shin Si-a expressed gratitude towards Choo Young-woo, saying, "He often brought me vitamins and snacks when I was feeling down." When asked about similarities between Choo Young-woo and his character, she said, "The most similar thing is that he's subtly affectionate and has a cute side. Jae-won is cute, not because he tries to be, but naturally. Young-woo has that quality, which made him fit the character well."
The date scenes were heavily influenced by Shin Si-a and Choo Young-woo's ideas. Shin Si-a explained, "The date scenes were mostly montages in the script, with few lines or directions. The director asked us, 'How would you date?' and 'Become Seo-yoon and Jae-won and try it.' Scenes like the karaoke and cable car dates were filled with our ideas."
The film also features a heart-fluttering kiss scene. Shin Si-a, who had her first on-screen kiss, admitted she was nervous. She said, "The director gave detailed directions, and I tried to follow them." She added, "We shot the kiss scene towards the end of filming, so the emotions had built up from previous scenes, making it feel natural."
There are many scenes where the characters take photos of each other. Shin Si-a shared, "Initially, we only took photos during the scenes, but later, we took many more, not knowing what might be used in the film. It was satisfying to see them used in the end credits behind-the-scenes video."
