'Zootopia 2' Dominates Box Office with Record-Breaking Opening Weekend

In just five days since its release, the animated film 'Zootopia 2' has surpassed 2.1 million viewers, claiming the top spot at the box office during its opening weekend.

According to the KOREA Box-office Information System, 'Zootopia 2' attracted 1,623,868 viewers over its first weekend, reaching a cumulative audience of 2,106,882 by December 1. Despite competition from films like 'Wicked: For Good' and 'Now You See Me 3', it maintained its number one position at the box office. Furthermore, it outpaced the opening weekend performances of this year's box office hits, 'Demon Slayer The Movie Infinity Castle' (162,3117 viewers on its opening weekend, cumulative 1,649,079) and 'My Daughter is a Zombie' (116,5728 viewers on its opening weekend, cumulative 1,868,709), achieving the highest opening weekend score for 2025.

The film has been praised for its expanded universe, refined action and visuals, and the introduction of a new character, Gary, delivering a heartfelt message that resonates with audiences. Notably, BTS leader RM shared his thoughts, saying, "It was so much fun. I cried at the end ㅠㅠ," drawing attention. Other viewers have echoed this sentiment, calling it "the best movie of the year," "worth the 9-year wait," and "a film that captures both fun and emotion." 'Zootopia 2' continues to hold the number one spot at the box office for five consecutive days and has maintained the top reservation rate for ten consecutive days, indicating a promising future for its box office success.

'Zootopia 2' follows the thrilling adventure of Judy and Nick, the dynamic duo of Zootopia, as they pursue the mysterious snake Gary, shaking up the city and diving into a new world to solve a perilous case. The film is currently showing in theaters nationwide.
