Choi Yoo-ri Expresses Gratitude to Co-star Jo Jung-suk and Other On-screen Fathers in 'Zombie Daughter'

On the 1st of the month, Choi Yoo-ri, who stars in the film 'Zombie Daughter,' was interviewed at the Ten Asia office in Jungnim-dong, Seoul.
'Zombie Daughter' is a comedic drama about a doting father who undergoes secret training to protect his daughter, the last remaining zombie in the world. Choi Yoo-ri plays the role of Soo-ah, the last zombie.
The on-screen chemistry between Choi Yoo-ri and Jo Jung-suk, who plays her father, is particularly authentic due to their real-life 29-year age difference. Choi shared, "On set, Jo Jung-suk and I would call each other 'Dad~' and 'Soo-ah~' just like in the script. It really felt like we became a family, and it was very touching. He was always so considerate and attentive, and I was grateful for that. Thanks to him, the family-like dynamic was well captured in the film."
In 'Zombie Daughter,' there is a scene where Jo Jung-suk's character gives a one-point lesson to his daughter as they prepare for a dance competition. Choi Yoo-ri commented, "It was a scene where the chemistry with Jo Jung-suk was crucial. I was worried because I'm not very familiar with dancing and had some confusion, but Jo Jung-suk guided me through the movements and positions, which helped a lot. Thanks to him, we were able to film it well."
Jo Jung-suk recently shared some joyful news as his wife, Gummy, is expecting their second child. When asked if she had congratulated him, Choi Yoo-ri said, "I do have his contact information, but I hesitated to reach out because he's such a senior figure. I think it's more meaningful to congratulate him in person, so I plan to do so during the stage greetings this weekend."
Choi Yoo-ri has previously played the daughter of Yoon Kyung-ho in the drama 'Itaewon Class' and Kim Woo-bin in the film 'Alienoid,' and now Jo Jung-suk in 'Zombie Daughter.' She remarked, "Every time, I feel honored just to work with such great actors. They always treated me as if I were their real daughter. All three praised me a lot and helped me whenever I was confused or inexperienced. I'm always grateful for that."
Released on July 30, 'Zombie Daughter' topped the box office for two consecutive days. It recorded 430,095 viewers on its opening day, achieving the highest opening score of the year. It surpassed the opening score of the hit comedy film 'Extreme Job,' which had 368,582 viewers, setting a new record for the highest opening score for a Korean comedy film. It also broke the record for the highest pre-sale numbers among this year's releases.
