'Veteran 2' Surpasses 5.6 Million Viewers, Dominates Box Office for 10 Consecutive Days
The movie 'Veteran 2' has surpassed 5.6 million viewers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets, 'Veteran 2' attracted 309,706 viewers on the 22nd alone, maintaining its number one position for 10 consecutive days. The cumulative number of viewers has reached 5,601,205.
The success of 'Veteran 2' has also rekindled interest in its predecessor, 'Veteran.' The original 'Veteran' is currently ranking high on various OTT platforms. On Netflix, it has climbed to the top tier of the South Korean movie TOP 10, and it is also the most popular movie on TVing's real-time charts. Released in 2015, the first 'Veteran' drew 13.41 million viewers and left memorable lines such as "I told you not to live a life of crime" and "Unbelievable."
'Veteran 2' follows the story of veteran detective Seo Do-cheol (played by Hwang Jung-min) and rookie detective Park Sun-woo (played by Jung Hae-in) as they join forces to track down a notorious serial killer in this action-packed crime investigation film.
In second place is the animated film 'Love's Hachuping,' which added 21,435 viewers in a day, bringing its total to 1,112,680. 'Love's Hachuping' has already made history by becoming one of the top two highest-grossing Korean animated films.
'Love's Hachuping' tells the story of Romi and Hachuping's first encounter as they search for their destined soulmate. It is the first movie adaptation of the TV series 'Catch! Teenieping,' serving as a prequel that delves into the backstory of Hachuping and Romi.
In third place is another animated film, 'Bread Barber Shop: The Birth of Bread Star,' which attracted 18,205 viewers in a day, bringing its cumulative total to 185,199.
'Bread Barber Shop: The Birth of Bread Star' follows the exciting daily lives of genius barber Bread, his clumsy assistant Wilk, the chic cashier Choco, and the adorable Sausage as they return as the ultimate bread stars.
In fourth place is 'Begin Again,' followed by 'Look Back' in fifth.
