Yoo Jae-myung reveals behind-the-scenes footage of 'Land of Happiness'

Yoo Jae-myung expressed his special feelings ahead of the release of the movie 'The Land of Happiness'.

Recently, I met actor Yoo Jae-myung, who appeared in the movie 'The Land of Happiness', at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

'The Land of Happiness' is a film that tells the story of Park Tae-joo (played by Lee Sun-kyun), who was implicated in the assassination of the president on the orders of his superior on October 26, 1979, and Jeong In-hoo (played by Jo Jung-seok), a lawyer who takes on his defense and enters a political trial. Yoo Jae-myung plays Jeon Sang-doo, the head of the Joint Investigation Department, who leads the unfair trial and is at the center of a huge power that causes a military rebellion for dangerous ambitions.

Yoo Jae-myung said, "It's been a long time since I've met the audience through a movie. It was meaningful throughout the movie. Many thoughts crossed my mind, 'This is how our movie was made.'"

Jeon Sang-doo, played by Yoo Jae-myung, is a character based on the real-life figure Jeon Doo-hwan. Yoo Jae-myung said, "Actually, when I first received the script, I turned it down," and "The character Jeon Sang-doo felt like it was in the fog. It was hard to figure out. As you know, he's a character with a specific image, so I politely declined." He continued, "It's hard to explain, but the character kept coming to mind even after time passed. It was similar during 'Itaewon Class,' when I was offered the role of Park Sae-roi's father, but I turned it down because of another schedule. However, it kept coming to mind. It lingered in my mind. I mustered up the courage to tell the director that I wanted to do it if it hadn't already been decided." He also added, "Jeon Sang-doo was like a character in the fog that I couldn't explain. The way he didn't stay still and focused, the look in his eyes, I couldn't directly think of it at the time. Those things remained in my mind, and I think I went through a process of expressing them with the director."

'The Land of Happiness' will be released on the 14th.
