'Face', director Yeon Sang-ho's first live-action independent film and a new production method, was released on July 27th.

'Face' is a film that tells the story of Lim Dong-hwan, the son of blind engraver Lim Young-gyu, who is called a living miracle, discovering the skeletal body of his mother, whom he thought had gone missing 40 years ago, and uncovering the truth behind her death.

Director Yeon Sang-ho is the first Korean feature-length animated film to be invited to the Director's Week at the Cannes Film Festival with his debut film 'The King of Pigs', which broke the conventions of animated films, such as being an independent film, not suitable for young people, and featuring school violence behind serial murders. He then made his second feature film. The animation 'Pseudo' painfully depicted the reality of religion that digs into the gaps in human psychology that seeks salvation. Director Yeon Sang-ho, who has his roots in independent films, including a socially critical perspective and materials and stories that are difficult for commercial films to handle, returns with a live-action independent film based on the cartoon 'Face', which he wrote and drew in 2018. Since the record-breaking success of his first live-action film, 'Train to Busan,' he has continued a stable and commercial path across movies and series, also known as the Yenniverse, and we are looking forward to his sharp perspective and storytelling that he will show again through an independent film.

The unique setting of a seal craftsman who created the most beautiful seals in the world even though he was born with a hearing impairment and could not see anything in the world, and his son, who had not seen his mother even once since he was a baby, suffered the death of his mother 40 years ago. The story itself is also interesting as it approaches the secrets and truth of the story. With a fresh story that goes beyond the framework of a commercial film and a mobile production team of about 20 key staff members, we are looking forward to the new world that 'Face' will show through a short and intense shooting of about 3 weeks.

The casting is also interesting and solid. The actors who are in sync with the unique and new story of 'Face' and director Yeon Sang-ho's new production method include Park Jung-min, who is working with director Yeon Sang-ho for the third time following the film 'Telekinesis' and the series 'Hell', and the films 'Pseudo' and 'Peninsula'. ', 'The Method: Jaechaui' and the series 'Parasite: The Gray', Kwon Hae-hyo appears. Park Jung-min is playing dual roles for the first time, playing his son Lim Dong-hwan and his father Lim Young-gyu from 40 years ago. Kwon Hae-hyo plays the current Lim Young-gyu, who overcomes his visual impairment and becomes a seal engraver master, and is called a living miracle. In addition, Shin Hyun-bin, who entered the world of director Yeon Sang-ho through the drama 'Ghost', appears, and Lim Seong-jae, who appears in Season 2 of 'Hell', plays the president of the Cheonggyecheon clothing factory where Lim Dong-hwan's mother, Jeong Young-hee, worked, making an impressive appearance in the drama 'Penthouse'. Han Ji-hyun, who gave a great performance, plays the role of Kim Soo-jin, who is the producer of a documentary about seal craftsman Lim Dong-hwan, and who, along with Lim Dong-hwan, uncovers the story behind Jeong Young-hee's death 40 years ago.

Director Yeon Sang-ho's independent film 'Face' is expected to finish filming in August and meet audiences next year.
