Lee Sun-kyun's posthumous film 'The Land of Happiness' will be released on August 14th.
'The Land of Happiness' is a work that depicts the story of Park Tae-joo, who was implicated in the presidential assassination case on October 26, 1979 by order of his superiors, and Jeong In-hoo, a lawyer who entered Korea's worst political trial as his defense attorney.
The released teaser trailer begins with an intense gunshot sound and the copy '1979 Presidential Assassination Case'. Soon, it shows three people standing in the era of upheaval that passed through October 26 and December 12, which shook the entire Republic of Korea. Park Tae-joo (Lee Sun-gyun), the assistant secretary to the head of the intelligence department, is on trial for being involved in the presidential assassination case under the orders of his superiors; his lawyer Jeong In-hoo (Jo Jeong-seok), who does his best to ensure a fair trial, eavesdrops on the trial in a secret room; The images of Jeon Sang-doo (Yoo Jae-myeong), head of the joint venture department, who is at the center of a huge power that controls the outcome, are depicted one after another, raising curiosity about how this case will end.
'The Land of Happiness' is a new work by director Choo Chang-min, who directed 'Gwanghae, The Man Who Became King', which attracted 12.32 million viewers. This work is a cinematic reconstruction of the hidden story behind a historical event that everyone knows. The large-scale courtroom scene that appears in the trailer and the appearance of Jeong In-hoo, who is angry at the times and devoting all his energy to his defense, make us curious about the process through which the story of the hottest trial of that era was told, although we did not know about it. Director Choo Chang-min said, "There are many modern history films that deal with 10.26 and 12.12, but if you look at it from the perspective of what other stems of stories dealing with the contemporary era are there, you will be able to experience new fun."
