Tang Wei is about to release his third Korean film 'Wonderland' following 'Late Autumn' and 'Decision to Break Up'. 'Wonderland' is a story about meeting a loved one again through 'Wonderland', a video call service that restores dead people with artificial intelligence.
Tang Wei attracted the attention of audiences around the world with her powerful performance in director Ang Lee's film 'Color, System', which won the Golden Lion Award at the 64th Venice International Film Festival. Afterwards, she entered the Korean film industry with director Kim Tae-yong's 'Late Autumn' and won the Baeksang Arts Awards Best Actress Award in the film category for her outstanding character digestion and impressive acting. In 2022, she played the role of Song Seo-rae in director Park Chan-wook's film 'Decision to Break Up' with her delicate sensibility and strong eyes, drawing enthusiastic support from movie fans and becoming the first foreign actress to win the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Actress, once again being recognized for her outstanding acting skills. Tang Wei, who is active in the film industry not only in Korea but also around the world, including China and Hollywood, collaborates once again with director Kim Tae-yong through 'Wonderland'. Tang Wei's role in 'Wonderland' is Bai Li, a mother who personally requested the 'Wonderland' service to hide her death from her young daughter. Byri, who was implemented as an archaeologist through 'Wonderland's' artificial intelligence service, tries to be a mother who is like a friend by communicating with her daughter who is far away through video calls. Tang Wei plans to increase immersion by depicting in detail and captivating the inner self of a confused character who is trapped in the world of 'Wonderland' and cannot return to her daughter.
Director Kim Tae-yong, who completed his second work with Tang Wei, said, "She was more delicate and braver than in 'Late Autumn'. I felt that she had great potential as an actor."
Tang Wei's third Korean film 'Wonderland' will be available in theaters nationwide on June 5.
