The film ‘Such Little Things’ was selected as the opening film of the 74th Berlin International Film Festival
'Little Things Like These' is set in Christmas 1985 and tells the story of Bill Furlong (Cillian Murphy), a devoted father and coal and lumber merchant, as he realizes the secrets kept by the town's convent and the shocking truth surrounding himself. The novel is original. Claire Keegan is the original writer of 'The Silent Girl', which was a finalist for the 95th Academy Awards for International Film. Actors Cillian Murphy, Eileen Walsh, Michelle Fairley, and Emily Watson appear.
Carlo Chatrian, Artistic Director of the Berlin International Film Festival, said: “In ‘Things Like These Little Things,’ Tim Milanz tells the story of a man who speaks little with wide-open eyes as clear as the Irish sky. In ‘The Silent Girl,’ we see small and simple "I have already felt Claire Keegan's skill in portraying visible characters and making them unforgettable. Keegan's delicate, rich, yet realistic writing led me to meet a great interpreter in Cillian Murphy in this work," he said.
He continued, “I am confident that this story, which combines kindness to the vulnerable and the will to stand against injustice, will resonate with everyone. Zeitgeist Ireland 24, a year-long celebration of Irish culture in Germany, “I look forward to presenting this quiet but very special film with the launch of ‘ )’,” he added.
The 74th Berlin International Film Festival will be held on February 15, 2024.
