Ra Mi-ran, “Diet failed, I have a body that can kill a cow”

Ra Mi-ran revealed that she does not consider ‘comedy’ to be her strength.

On the 16th, I met Ra Mi-ran, the protagonist of the movie ‘Citizen Deok-hee’, at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

'Citizen Deok-hee' is a chase drama that unfolds when Deok-hee, an ordinary citizen who has been subjected to voice phishing, receives a rescue request from Jae-min, a member of the scam organization. It is based on the true story of Kim Seong-ja, a laundromat owner in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, who contributed to catching the leader of voice phishing in 2016. Ra Mi-ran played the role of Deok-hee, who meticulously gathered clues to recover all the money she lost through voice phishing.

Ra Mi-ran said, "I don't think I'm strong in comedy. Now, I think there are people who say, 'I've seen everything there is to see in comedy,'" and added, "Except for 'Honest Candidate,' there's almost no work I've done that I consider to be a comedy. It makes me laugh." “There is no work that I thought I should do,” he said. He then laughed, saying, "Other people have done the funny things. I think I'm funny with my body. I haven't been able to lose weight. It looks like I could hit a cow, don't you think?" At the same time, he said, "I saw the news material at the time, and the real-life person who became the motif was very thin. That worried me. I thought I could (diet), but I failed," making people laugh.

When asked if he had the will to take on a diet challenge, he confessed, "I always had the will," causing laughter. He continued, "When I work on other works, the characters themselves are rarely chubby or anything like that. If you want to look good on camera, it's better to be slim. I was worried that my appearance would look funny. The situation is serious, but I'm worried that the appearance will break the immersion. “It worked,” he confessed. He also joked, "I had a lot of fun filming it, but when I saw the movie, all I could see was that (fat)," and "I gained a lot of weight during 'Citizen Deok-hee'."

‘Citizen Deokhee’ will be released on the 24th.
