The power of the movie '12.12: THE DAY', become longest-running number one this year

The movie '12.12: THE DAY' (directed by Kim Seong-su) exceeded 9 million viewers.

'12.12: THE DAY' is a movie depicting the nine hours of action to prevent the rebellion of the new military regime that occurred in the capital Seoul on December 12, 1979.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network on the 19th, '12.12: THE DAY' on the 18th attracted 142,501 viewers, maintaining first place in the box office. ‘Spring in Seoul’ recorded a cumulative audience of 9,083,576, exceeding 9 million viewers within 27 days of its release.

This box office fever surpassed the records of Korean films released in 2023, such as 'Crime City 3' (24th) and 'Smuggling (14th),' and achieved the feat of achieving the longest record at No. 1 at the box office this year. It is also a figure that far exceeds the records of animations released in 2023, such as 'The First Slam Dunk' (19th) and 'Elemental' (18th).
