Same but different Seoul… ‘12.12: THE DAY’ approaching 3 million, ‘Single in Seoul’ struggling

The movie '12.12: THE DAY', which has been in first place for 9 days since its release, has shown incredible box office success and is on the verge of exceeding 3 million.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated movie ticket network on the 1st, '12.12: THE DAY' (directed by Kim Seong-su) ranked first with 241,480 people on the 30th. The cumulative number of viewers is 2,952,920.

'12.12: THE DAY' is a movie depicting the 9 hours of desperate action to prevent the rebellion of the new military forces that occurred in the capital city of Seoul on December 12, 1979. It is directed by Kim Seong-soo and stars Hwang Jung-min, Jung Woo-sung, Lee Seong-min, Park Hae-joon, and Kim Sung-gyun.

'12.12: THE DAY' continues to run at the box office, ranking first in the box office for eight consecutive days since the first day of release. From the 27th to the 29th, the second week of release, the number of daily audiences exceeded the opening score on the opening day (203,813). It is being evaluated as being a so-called ‘bullshit hit’.

Second place went to ‘Single in Seoul’ (directed by Park Beom-soo), which attracted 30,758 viewers and accumulated 101,741 viewers. Third place was ‘Monster’ (directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda), which was viewed by 13,813 people, recording a cumulative audience of 62,904.

However, the gap between 1st place '12.12: THE DAY' and 2nd place 'Single in Seoul' is about 8 times, so 'Single in Seoul' starring Lee Dong-wook and Lim Soo-jung is not showing much strength. On the 30th, the first day of release, about 52,000 people watched the movie, and the next day the number was only about 30,000.
