Director Baek of 'Believer 2' carefully addressed the harsh criticism from audiences after it was released on Netflix on the 17th.

Director Baek of the movie 'Believer 2' was interviewed about the movie 'Believer 2' at a cafe located in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 22nd.

'Believer 2' follows the vicious war between Detective Won-ho (Cho Jin-woong), who is still chasing Mr. Lee after the vicious fight at Yongsan Station, the disappeared Rock (Oh Seung-hoon), the reappearance of Brian (Cha Seung-won), and Big Knife (Han Hyo-joo) who came from China to resolve the situation. Green crime action movie. Director Baek, who is in charge of directing, has directed the movie ‘Beauty Inside’.

'Believer 2', which was released on Netflix on the 17th, is receiving poor reviews from audiences due to its different setting and charm from the previous work. Director Baek revealed that he looked for some reviews after the work was released and said, "The audience's evaluation was not good. I had a lot of thoughts and worries and I have a complicated mind. Looking at the ratings and reviews, I do not think that their thoughts were wrong. There was a limit to my skills somewhere. “I think there must have been. But there is no change in the fact that there was an attractive starting point,” he said, expressing his honest feelings.

'Believer 2' is not a typical series, but a so-called mid-quel that tells the story between Yongsan Station and the Norwegian blood feud of 'Believer 1' (2018). Instead of a prequel, which deals with the events of the movie, or a sequel, which deals with the time period after the movie, they chose a midquel, which deals with what happened in the middle of the time period covered by the previous work. Regarding the reason why he accepted the project even though it was a difficult project from the beginning, he said, "When I first started working on this project, there was a sentence that stimulated my curiosity. 'What if Seo Young-rak had not been Teacher Lee?' was the impetus for creating the mid-length. In Part 1, “There is a process of dealing between Jin Ha-rim and Teacher Lee. In the beginning, it started out as an interesting question, ‘What if Jin Ha-rim had planned to find Teacher Lee?’” he said.

'Believer 1' (directed by Lee Hae-young), which was released in 2018, had some parts that caught the attention of audiences thanks to its unique colors and stylish directing. Unlike the first film, 'Believer 2' appears to have been visually implemented in a completely different form. Director Baek responded, "If the first film had strong colors and strong contrast, in the second film, we had to emphasize the character's narrative. Although there was pressure about being a mid-length film, there was no pressure about the genre."

As much as it is popular with fans, there are also criticisms as to why the setting of the previous film was reversed. Director Baek said, "In some ways, I think I was lacking in expressing and explaining it. I did not understand the thought process in the first place. I felt a gap with expectations. Rather than overturning the setting, I think the explanation was insufficient." He mentioned.

The movie 'Believer 2' was released on Netflix on the 17th.
