The Netflix movie 'Gil Bok-soon' (director Byun Seong-hyeon) was officially invited to the special section of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.

On the 14th, Netflix announced, "'Gil Bok-soon' has been officially invited to the Berlinale Special section, the main section of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, which will be held from February 16th to 26th."

'Gil Bok-soon' is the story of Gil Bok-soon (played by Jeon Do-yeon), a legendary killer in the contract killing industry, who gets caught up in an unavoidable confrontation where he either dies or is killed, just before renewing his contract with the company.

In particular, the cast line-up of Jeon Do-yeon and Sol Kyung-gu, the faces representing Korean films, Kim Sia, Lee Som, and Koo Kyo-hwan, who have extraordinary energy, acting skills, and personality, and the stylish directing and It is also a work that quickly became a hot topic due to the script and director Byun Seong-hyun, who was recognized for his unrivaled character narrative and solid storytelling.

The Berlin Film Festival, now in its 73rd year, is considered one of the world's three largest film festivals, along with the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. The Berlinale Special Section, to which 'Gil Bok-soon' was invited, mainly invites hot works that show new trends in the world film industry, and has a reputation for selecting films that can communicate widely with the public. Director Byun Seong-hyun expanded his career to the Berlin International Film Festival following the invitation of his previous film, 'Bad Boy: The World of Bad Guys', to the Cannes Film Festival with the invitation of 'Gil Bok-soon'. In addition, Jeon Do-yeon is the third winner, following 'Scandal - Joseon Men and Women's Differences', which was invited to the Panorama section in 2004, and Sol Gyeong-gu is the third winner, following 'Idol', which was invited to the Panorama section in 2019.
