The movie ‘Avatar: Path of Water’ jumped to 4th place in the global box office rankings. In Japan, the score wasn't as good as expected, but director James Cameron is now in a fight with himself.

According to Deadline, an American media outlet, on the 28th (local time), 'Avatar: Path of Water' surpassed 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and ranked 4th in the global box office rankings. The current global box office revenue of 'Avatar: Path of Water' is recording $2.075 billion (about KRW 2.5626 trillion).

'Avatar: Path of Water' is a film released by director James Cameron 13 years after the previous film, and depicts the merciless threats that Jake Sully and Neytiri's family face on the planet Pandora, the long journey and battle they must embark on to survive, and A story about the hurt that must be endured.

Countries with high profits include China, France, Korea, the UK, India, Australia, Mexico, Spain, and Italy. In particular, in Korea, it became the first work to exceed 10 million viewers this year. Korea ranked 3rd in the box office rankings by country. Previously, 'Avatar: Path of Water' surpassed 'Avengers: Infinity War' and ranked 5th in the all-time global box office hit list. It jumps to 4th place in just one day and attracts attention.

However, Japan remains in 13th place. In Japan, instead of 'Avatar: Path of Water', 'The First Slam Dunk', 'Suzume's Lockdown', 'One Piece Film Red', and 'Archikei's Crow' are at the top of the box office. Director James Cameron, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang held promotions in Japan ahead of the release. The Japanese visit and box office success were not proportional.

Initially, director James Cameron announced that the break-even point for 'Avatar: Path of Water' was more than $2 billion. Even before its release, there were great concerns about whether it would be able to surpass the break-even point. Although it performed poorly in Japan, it easily ranked 4th in the global box office rankings, drawing attention.

In addition, director James Cameron filled the first, third, and fourth places in the all-time global box office hit list with his name. The #1 global box office hit of all time is ‘Avatar.’ Second place is Marvel's 'Avengers: Endgame' and third place is 'Titanic'.

Now James Cameron is taking on the challenge of making a Marvel movie. Not only that, but he started a fight with himself. Attention is being paid to whether 'Avatar: Waterway' will be able to surpass 'Titanic', 'Avengers: Endgame', and the previous film 'Avatar'.
