‘Slam Dunk’, ‘Avatar 2’ dominate the top 3 foreign films at the box office
The top three foreign films dominated the box office.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network on the 10th, the movie 'The First Slam Dunk' (directed by Takehiko Inoue) mobilized 44,739 viewers on the 9th. The cumulative number of viewers was 2,531,841.
'The First Slam Dunk' is a movie depicting the dreams, passion, and unstoppable challenges of the five members of the Buksan High School basketball team who dream of winning the national championship. It is based on the cartoon 'Slam Dunk'. An attempt was made to expand the story in that Song Tae-seop, not Kang Baek-ho, was the main character. It surpassed ‘Demon Slayer Theatrical: Infinite Train’ (2.18 million) and ‘Spirited Away’ (2.16 million), making it one of the top three highest-grossing Japanese animation films released in Korea. It is also surpassing the record of ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ (2.61 million viewers), which ranks second all time.
Following this, the movie 'Titanic: 25th Anniversary' (directed by James Cameron) ranked second in the box office with 28,385 viewers, with a cumulative audience of 500,270.
Third place went to ‘Avatar: Path of Water’, which attracted 10,530 viewers and recorded 10,601,798 viewers.
Among the top 3 box offices were foreign films, the movie 'Negotiation' (director Im Soon-rye) ranked 4th, attracting 7,552 people. The cumulative number of viewers is 1,659,783. 5th place is the Taiwanese film ‘Sanggyeonni’ (director Hwang Cheon-in).
