‘Family Honor: Returns’ returns in 2023. 'Family Glory', which first started in 2002, is already a 21-year-old series. It meets the audience for the first time in 11 years since 'Family's Glory 5 - Return of the Family' (2012).
On the 19th, a press conference for the movie 'Family Glory: Returns' (directed by Jeong Tae-won and Jeong Yong-gi) was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Directors Jeong Tae-won and Jeong Yong-ki, and actors Yoon Hyun-min, Yura, Kim Soo-mi, Tak Jae-hoon, Jeong Jun-ha, and Go Yoon attended the event.
The movie 'Family Glory: Returns' is a comedy depicting the life-or-death marriage battle of the Jang family, who devises all kinds of conspiracies to get the popular star writer 'Dae-seo' and the family's youngest daughter 'Jin-kyung' to marry.
Regarding his feelings about working with actors with strong ad-libs, director Jeong Tae-won said, "I remember when I was filming 'Family Passion'. It was all on location in Japan. There were no 52 hours a week. 70% of the filming was done in Japan, so I had to stay up all night every night. "But it was a good filming location. Although the schedule wasn't like that this time, it was an environment where laughter never left, like back then. Everyone was disappointed when the filming ended."
As a series, there must have been some risk factors. Director Jeong Tae-won said, "Jin-kyung's character was an innocent character, but this time, we made her bold, tough, and actively express her opinion. Although it was a parody in a place like a piano bar, the detailed emotions were different."
Regarding the reason for planning 'Family Glory', director Jeong Tae-won said, "The past few years have been very difficult. There was a pandemic, the Russian War, and global warming. I thought laughter was needed in times like these. Authentic comedy can help people relax. "I thought I would give it to you. Teacher Kim Soo-mi wanted to make 'Family's Glory' again, and we came together to make it again this year. Since it has always been released on Chuseok, I thought it was the right time," he said.
Regarding 'Family Glory: Returns', which is a comical film with a romantic focus at the center, director Jeong Yong-ki said, "It seems simple. People come to the movie to see the story, right? In order to provide completeness, the romance between the two was necessary. It was arranged so that comedy could be done to one's heart's content. “I thought that if there was a lot of comedy in the second half, the progress of the play would become looser,” he explained.
Regarding his feelings about acting with Yura, who plays the role of Jin-kyung, who falls in love in the play, Yoon Hyun-min said, "The scenes during filming passed like a ray of light. During the first filming, it was awkward, so we spoke politely, but after that, we acted together every day." “I think this is a work that is highly anticipated for their chemistry. I hope the open ending between the two will be well-received by the audience,” he said.
Regarding the attractive point of 'Family Glory: Returns', he added, "I hope people recognize the revival of traditional comedy. I made it with that much confidence and hard work."
Regarding her feelings about working with Yoon Hyun-min through 'Family Glory: Reboot', Yura said, "I was very nervous about the first filming. The atmosphere on set was also very good. Actor Yoon Hyun-min also guided me a lot, so I filmed with a comfortable mind." .
Next, Yura, who performed a parody of singing 'I Always Love You' and playing the piano, said, "I had a lot of worries about the 'I Always Love You' part because it was famous. I am happy that 'Returns' Jin-kyung came out well in her own style. “It was good. They said folk scenes should always be funny, so I made funny facial expressions,” he said.
Regarding her feelings about returning to Hong Deok-ja after 2011, Kim Soo-mi said, "I was very excited to see the details of the sound and props. Personally, I think this episode of the series was neatly organized to fit the MZ generation. Because it is Returns, it has the scent of the family name and the family name. “I think they showed their camaraderie. I think it’s just as good to see them as family.”
Kim Soo-mi, who worked with actress Seo Hyo-rim, her real-life daughter-in-law in the drama, said, "I missed this team so much. When asked about the most memorable ad-lib while filming 'Family Glory: Returns', Tak Jae-hoon said, "I remember the last time I filmed 'Family Passion', which was very difficult, but I think it was a good time. The director took care of my concerns. "You did a lot. It went quickly, but the preparation process seems to have taken a long time. I thought about the scenes I filmed in the past. As the trend of humor has changed, I wanted to give a big laugh in line with the current release era, so we had a lot of meetings."
Tak Jae-hoon, who said at the last production briefing session, "Don't expect quality," said, "I think it's a revolutionary way of publicity. Actor Kim Soo-mi also talked about it on another broadcast. Afterwards, I also had a fun conversation with director Jeong Tae-won. When asked if there was the most memorable ad-lib while filming, Jeong Jun-ha said, "I am personally close to the writer. It is rude to change the script at will, so I think we discussed and changed the ad-lib from time to time. I think I tried a lot of different things on set. “What’s disappointing is that I don’t wear fancy training clothes. There’s a reason why I wore long sleeves in the hot summer, but it was edited out. If that were the case, I should have worn short sleeves. I talked about it on air, but you can watch it (laughter).”
Actor Go Yoon played the role of Jong-chil, the left arm of the family, and played the role of licorice.
Regarding his feelings about filming 'Family Glory: Returns', Go Yoon said, "I started my career as a director with a movie called 'Family Passion'. I was more excited than anyone to hear that I was producing it after 12 years. I was able to be in the same place with famous seniors. “It was nice to have it. It’s as precious as the ‘Marvel’ series,” he said.
