A special exhibition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the movie 'Old Boy'
The screening of the annual special exhibition for the 20th anniversary of the release of the movie 'Oldboy' has been confirmed as a solo GV for director Park Chan-wook, actor Choi Min-sik and actor Yu Ji-tae at KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema.
Last May, KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema announced that it would hold a special screening of 'Oldboy' from May 21st to November 21st, the date of its theatrical release 20 years ago, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of 'Oldboy'. Last July, along with 'Old Boy', 'Revenge is Mine' and 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance', which are called the revenge trilogy directed by Park Chan-wook, were specially screened.
As the first reunion in 20 years since its release on November 21, 2003, this 'Old Boy' GV is expected to become a meaningful event for movie-loving audiences beyond 20 years. Reservations can be made on the 'KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema' page on Saturday, the 12th, and the opening time for reservations will be announced through KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema SNS (Instagram). KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema Programmer Lee Jin-joo said, “Many audiences are showing great response to the screening of the 20th anniversary special exhibition of 'Oldboy', which has been held since May. As this is a special exhibition planned in the hope that the audience will have a special memory from watching this movie, I am glad to experience the reaction at the scene. In August, I feel new because I will be able to prepare a more meaningful time with the audience with the director and actors,” he said, leaving his impression of this event.
When 'Old Boy' was released in 2003, it swept the country's leading awards ceremonies, including the 24th Blue Dragon Film Awards, the 40th Baeksang Arts Awards, and the 41st Grand Bell Awards. At the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, he won the Grand Jury Prize and made director Park Chan-wook's name known to the world. In 2013, the 10th anniversary of its release, a Hollywood remake was released.
