Netflix's 'Single's Inferno 4' Star Dong-ho Kook Denies School Bullying Allegations
On the 4th, Kook took to his social media to address the allegations, stating, "I am here to correct false information." He emphasized, "The claims made by a certain individual are not based on facts, and I have no connection to the incidents mentioned. These false claims are causing significant harm to me and those around me."
The allegations surfaced when a current lawyer, referred to as A, mentioned Kook's name while claiming to be a victim of school bullying. A alleged that during their school years, they were bullied by a group led by B, whose boyfriend was Kook. A claimed that Kook was aware of the bullying and either condoned it or participated in acts like the so-called 'confession attack'. A also described additional bullying incidents involving being hit on the head with a badminton racket, having thumbtacks placed on chairs, and locks being damaged with strong glue. Kook refuted these claims, stating, "I have never participated in or condoned actions such as hitting someone with a badminton racket, placing thumbtacks on chairs, or applying glue to lockers."
Regarding B, who was identified as his girlfriend, Kook clarified, "I never dated B during middle school. I even question the existence of such a person. I never roamed around in groups at any academy." He further explained, "Middle school was a time when I was in my early teens. The claim that I knelt with a cake in front of many people to confess is not true. I have never done such a thing. I do not make confessions recklessly."
A also claimed, "After appearing on 'Single's Inferno', I heard he quit his professional job and is now living as an influencer. During the show, I lived in hell." In response, Kook countered, "I believe fact-checking should always be the basic premise. Contrary to the claim that I quit my accounting job to become an influencer, I am still working at an accounting firm and have never left my professional career."
Kook stated, "The logic presented is not based on facts. It seems the conclusion was predetermined, assuming the other party would not remember. Even if the evidence is weak, if one consistently claims and gathers people to support it, a one-sided claim can appear factual. I believe this is what is happening." He added, "If I were to make the same claims without evidence, I would become the victim, and the other party would become the perpetrator."
Kook expressed discomfort, saying, "If the claims being made are about actions I took in the past, it would be right to acknowledge and apologize. However, listing unverified claims that consistently end with promoting a law firm is particularly regrettable." He also requested, "I ask for an apology for the defamation based on unfounded stories and urge you to refrain from spreading false information in the future."
Dong-ho Kook gained recognition through his appearance on Netflix's 'Single's Inferno 4'. A graduate of Korea University and a 188cm tall certified public accountant, he caught the attention of viewers. After working at a major accounting firm, Kook left to open and operate his own accounting office.
