Woody Tops April's Tenasia Artist Top Ten K-Pop Genre Brand
In April, Tenasia conducted a global vote through its voting service, dividing the categories into K-Pop Boy Brand, K-Pop Girl Brand, and Hot Genre Brand. The voting took place from April 10 to 23.
Organized by Tenasia, 'Artist Top Ten' is a monthly competition that selects the most buzzworthy domestic artists. Male idols, female idols, and genre artists (indie, mixed groups, ballads, etc.) representing K-pop compete for the top spot in each category.
As a result of the voting, singer Woody claimed the top spot in the K-pop Genre Brand category. On April 15, Woody released a new song 'Two People' as part of the Music Connect Project 'Wish+' on various online music sites. 'Two People' is a ballad originally released in 2005 by Sung Si-kyung, known for its harmonious blend of the artist's voice, beautiful melody, and romantic lyrics. Woody has reimagined this popular wedding song with his unique sensibility.
In second place was singer Kim Yong-bin. On May 1 at 8:30 PM, KBS2's 'New Release, Pyeonstorang' will air Kim Yong-bin's story, the final winner of 'Mr. Trot 3'. In the broadcast, he reveals, "After graduating from middle school, I went to Japan to sing. It was really tough." He shares his struggles with financial difficulties and a sudden voice change that prevented him from singing, leading to panic disorder at a young age. Kim Yong-bin candidly admits, "I couldn't do anything for seven years and stayed home."
WOODZ secured the third spot. On April 29, WOODZ addressed curiosity about his 'unexpected friendship' with BLACKPINK's Jennie through his YouTube channel's 'Goozy Date' content. WOODZ explained, "People wonder why we're close," adding, "I've known Jennie for over 10 years. She was famous as a trainee, and we first met at a school festival." Jennie humorously added, "For the record, I don't remember." They later became trainees at YG Entertainment, where they got to know each other better. Jennie shared, "Seungyeon asked me to hang out, saying, 'I wish I had a fun friend like you.'"
Following them were Hwasa, Park Seo-jin, Han Roro, Kiki, Kim Da-hyun, Car, the Garden, and Davichi.
The rankings of Woody, Kim Yong-bin, WOODZ, Hwasa, Park Seo-jin, Han Roro, Kiki, Kim Da-hyun, Car, the Garden, and Davichi are determined 100% by the voting scores on the Tenasia application. After the monthly voting closes, the artists with the highest combined fan voting scores are selected as the Artist Top 10. The voting page also features an event where participants receive one heart daily for checking in.
Candidates for the K-Pop Boy Brand and K-Pop Girl Brand categories are selected from the top 20 teams on the monthly Melon Chart and Idol Champ Chart. Candidates for the Hot Genre Brand category are chosen from the top 20 teams on the monthly Melon Chart and Celeb Champ Chart.
Artists who make it to the 'Artist Top Ten' Top 10 receive benefits such as a special article linked to their final ranking, promotion on the Tenasia website, and inclusion in the next month's Artist Top Ten candidates (limited to the first-place artist).
