Westworld's Na Young Nam Invited as Jury Member for WAIFF Cannes 2026
'WAIFF' is the world's largest AI film festival, founded in Nice, France, and is recognized as a leading international event in the convergence of AI technology and film. The upcoming 'WAIFF Cannes 2026' will feature world-renowned actress Gong Li as the honorary chairperson, with Na Young Nam participating as a jury member.
This invitation is significant as it follows the March 'WAIFF Seoul 2026', where CEO Son Seung-hyun served as the jury chair and Na Young Nam as a jury member. Na Young Nam's consecutive participation in major events in Seoul and Cannes further demonstrates Westworld's competitive edge in AI-based video content and post-production.
Na Young Nam is a prominent editing director representing Korean films and series. She has edited various hit films such as 'Masquerade', 'Extreme Job', 'Speed Scandal', 'Sunny', 'The Fortress', and 'Zombie Daughter'. Recently, she edited the entire series of the global hit 'Squid Game', which was the first non-English work to be nominated for an Emmy, earning recognition for both popularity and artistry. Additionally, she won the editing award at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards last year for the film 'High Five', reaffirming her status in the film industry.
Westworld has consistently strengthened its editing capabilities through its in-house editing division 'Mori', which plays a crucial role in enhancing the rhythm and emotional lines of films and series. Led by Na Young Nam, 'Mori' is a key pillar of Westworld's post-production prowess, responsible for elevating the completeness of works through meticulous editing tailored to the genre and narrative.
Westworld CEO Son Seung-hyun stated, “This invitation to Cannes is a meaningful achievement that highlights our post-production capabilities and creative competitiveness on the global stage. We will continue to enhance our production competitiveness by combining technology and creativity as a global content group encompassing films, series, and AI-based video content.”
Meanwhile, Westworld is a leading content technology group in South Korea, having participated in numerous global hits such as 'Squid Game', 'Sweet Home', 'The Silent Sea', 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo', 'Digging', and 'Queen of Tears'. The company is expanding its technological competitiveness by establishing a comprehensive pipeline that covers the entire content production process, including VFX, editing, DI (digital color correction), virtual production, and generative AI-based production.
