Kang Dong-won Transforms for 'Wild Thing': A Nostalgic Comeback of Fictional Group Triangle

Kang Dong-won is generating buzz with a dramatic transformation for his upcoming film.

On the 10th, the production team of the movie 'Wild Thing' released a teaser video for the comeback single 'Love is' by the fictional co-ed group Triangle.

The teaser features silhouettes and unique poses of Kang Dong-won, Park Ji-hyun, and Um Tae-goo, capturing attention with its music industry comeback-like presentation.

Individual posters of the members are being released sequentially through Triangle's official account, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a real idol group's return. The film is a comedy about Triangle, a once-popular co-ed dance group that disbanded due to unforeseen events, reuniting on stage after 20 years.

The characters in the film continue their group activities, blending music and narrative in a unique promotional strategy that goes beyond simple movie marketing. Kang Dong-won sheds his previous image with a bold look featuring a bandana, short 'knife-cut' hair, and cross earrings. This transformation is considered his most striking since his debut in 2003. In the film, he plays Hwang Hyun-woo, the group's leader and 'dancing machine,' showcasing a new charm.

Um Tae-goo takes on the role of charismatic rapper Goo Sang-goo, while Park Ji-hyun plays the main vocalist Byun Do-mi, each bringing their unique flair. Additionally, Oh Jung-se joins the cast as Sung-gon, a ballad singer who was overshadowed by Triangle in the past, adding more energy to the film.

The overall concept evokes nostalgia for 2000s co-ed groups like Koyote and Cool. The old-school hip-hop beats and retro styling seamlessly incorporate the era's vibe. The title track 'Love is' is set to be pre-released on the 21st, drawing attention to the impact of their activities.

'Wild Thing' is set to premiere on June 3rd.
