Huh Ji-woong Expresses Outrage Over Director Kim Chang-min's Tragic Incident
On the 10th, Huh Ji-woong took to his social media to share a lengthy post.
He stated, "In front of his young son, a father was beaten to death, and the entire process was captured on CCTV. The perpetrators did not apologize and even released an album. When things got noisy, they appeared on a YouTube channel to apologize, but they did not apologize to the bereaved family," expressing his outrage by saying, "I don't understand why there needs to be an investigation and trial. They should be punished."
He further emphasized, "Those who conducted the initial inadequate investigation should be dismissed and excluded from the community at all levels. The problematic YouTuber should undergo a tax investigation and be punished in front of their own child by the victim's family."
Huh Ji-woong added, "There are people who do not cross the line whether there is a law or not, and there are those who cross the line claiming it's legal. The former are the ones who protect the community. They are the few remaining guardians. The latter should all be punished, which is my current thought," and concluded, "Everyone who had the authority to prevent this but did not is guilty."
The police identified one suspect and applied for an arrest warrant on assault charges, but it was rejected due to the prosecution's request for further investigation. Later, arrest warrants were requested for two suspects on charges of causing injury resulting in death, but the court denied them, citing "no risk of flight or evidence destruction."
The bereaved family criticized the initial police investigation as inadequate, arguing that despite at least six perpetrators being involved, only one was identified as a suspect, and favorable circumstances were used as key evidence leading to the rejection of the arrest warrant. The father met with reporters on the 8th in front of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office Namyangju Branch, stating, "The initial investigation was inadequate, making it very difficult to overturn it," and expressed difficulty accepting the suspects being investigated without detention. He also shared the heartbreaking news that his grandson, who witnessed the incident, is suffering severe mental trauma and is on medication.
Currently, the Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency is conducting an internal investigation into the Guri Police Station officials, and the prosecution has formed a dedicated team to begin a supplementary investigation.
Amidst this, on the 9th, a video titled "I am the murderer of director Kim Chang-min" was uploaded to a YouTube channel. The person in the video claimed to be "the perpetrator of the incident involving the late director Kim Chang-min" and expressed, "I want to apologize to the late director and his family."
The individual continued, "I am very sorry to the late director Kim Chang-min. I can only think of saying sorry. I understand the grief of the family who lost their son. I am sorry. I can only say sorry," but viewers expressed anger at the suspect's attitude of apologizing on YouTube.

I don't understand why there needs to be an investigation and trial. They should be punished. Those who conducted the initial inadequate investigation should be dismissed and excluded from the community at all levels. The problematic YouTuber should undergo a tax investigation and be punished in front of their own child by the victim's family. In my twenties, I might not have considered myself human for saying such things. But now, approaching my fifties, I can't stand my younger self. It seems I should no longer write about political and social issues.
There are people who do not cross the line whether there is a law or not, and there are those who cross the line claiming it's legal. The former are the ones who protect the community. They are the few remaining guardians. The latter should all be punished, which is my current thought. I don't know if people are pretending not to know or just hoping things will work out. I am always the victim, and no matter what happens, I am wronged, but the world supports this, so it's a great deal for some people. Schools and restaurants are being torn apart by these people. Everyone who had the authority to prevent this but did not is guilty. Look at the mess we're in; is this normal?
