Koyote's Shinji Opens Up About Being One of the First to Admit to Eyelid Surgery in K-pop
In a video posted on the YouTube channel 'Eotteoshinji' on the 8th, Shinji revealed various anecdotes from her debut and peak activity periods.
Shinji explained that she naturally had monolids, but her eyelid shape would change when she was tired, which was a concern for her. To address this cosmetic issue, she decided to undergo surgery at the suggestion of her stylist.
The surgery process was quite sudden. Shinji recalled being dropped off by her manager on the streets of Myeongdong, not knowing the exact location of the clinic, and following her stylist to undergo the procedure. To this day, she does not know where the clinic was.
Shinji also confessed that she did not have enough time to recover after the surgery. She stated, "I was thrown into broadcast activities immediately, even though the swelling hadn't gone down." Due to the popularity of the album she was promoting, she had to prepare for a follow-up song right away, leaving no time for rest.
This situation ultimately led Shinji to disclose the surgery herself. In an era when discussing plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures was taboo, she had no choice but to be honest due to the lack of time to hide the swelling. Shinji noted that she might have been one of the first singers to acknowledge having surgery.
Additionally, Shinji mentioned the physical and mental challenges she faced during her peak, including having to perform on stage while suffering from a cold.
