IU and Byeon Woo-seok Showcase Sweet Chemistry Ahead of '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife' Premiere

Actors IU and Byeon Woo-seok are set to captivate audiences with their charming on-screen chemistry in the upcoming drama '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife'.

The duo graces the cover of Elle's April special edition, showcasing a delightful wedding-themed photoshoot. The concept captures the sweet and loving dynamic of their characters, Seong Hee-joo (played by IU) and Lee An-daegun (played by Byeon Woo-seok), who are bound by a 'contract marriage' in the drama. IU stuns in a cute white dress with puff sleeves and an elegant toned-down pink dress, while Byeon Woo-seok embodies his character's noble status with a sophisticated style.

In an interview following the photoshoot, the actors discussed their roles in '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife', set in a constitutional monarchy in modern-day Korea. IU described her character, Seong Hee-joo, as "an intriguing character who is both endearing and somewhat comical in her pursuit of a relationship with Lee An-daegun. Her unabashed ambition is particularly fascinating."

Byeon Woo-seok shared his thoughts on playing Lee An-daegun, stating, "I always prioritize the emotions of the characters I portray, and Lee An-daegun's complex inner world resonated with me. Despite his high status, he longs for happiness, which makes him a compelling character."

The actors also expressed their mutual trust and admiration for each other's performances. IU praised Byeon Woo-seok, saying, "He brought Lee An-daegun to life in a way that exceeded my expectations. His presence on screen is nothing short of beautiful, and his honest feedback helped us build a strong partnership."

Byeon Woo-seok reciprocated the admiration, noting, "We shared many serious discussions about acting, but also enjoyed playful moments on set. IU's detailed approach to character interpretation and script analysis is something I greatly admire. Her candid and easygoing nature made the set a comfortable place to work."

Despite starting with a contract marriage, Seong Hee-joo and Lee An-daegun grow to support each other in their journey. Byeon Woo-seok reflected on this dynamic, saying, "Being on the same side means having someone who can honestly tell you when you're wrong, and if your thoughts align, you can trust each other infinitely." IU added, "Hee-joo and Lee An-daegun have clear reasons for needing each other and willingly become each other's strength.
