Translator Hwang Seok-hee, who is embroiled in allegations of committing sexual crimes on three occasions, is facing backlash as it was revealed that he had been portraying himself as a 'caring father' on social media until the controversy erupted.
Hwang Seok-hee posted a photo of a children's book he translated on his social media on the 28th, along with a message saying, "I support all children who are starting anew." In the post, he wrote, "What should I say to a child who is about to start a new journey? As a father of a daughter entering elementary school this year, I had many concerns. This book is a great encouragement for parents like me and children who have vague anxieties."

He added, "Perfect preparation might be an illusion from the start. It's much more important to support the child with all your might so they can take their first steps with courage. I support the new beginnings of all children. Hwang Seok-hee."

The post was deleted after the controversy arose. As of the 31st, all previous posts on Hwang Seok-hee's Instagram have been removed, leaving only a recent statement.

Meanwhile, on the 30th, a media outlet reported that Hwang Seok-hee had committed sexual crimes on three occasions. According to the report, he was charged twice for molesting and assaulting women on the street in 2005 and for sexual violence against a student in 2014. He received suspended sentences for charges including indecent assault causing injury and quasi-rape.

In response, Hwang Seok-hee stated on his social media, "I am currently reviewing the related matters with my lawyer. If there are any inaccuracies, unverified information, or expressions beyond the scope of legal judgment in the report, I will consider corrections and responses."
