Comedian Jung Sun-hee Reflects on Life After Husband's Passing
Jung appeared on the tvN STORY variety show 'What's the Use of Leaving It Behind' on the 23rd, where she reflected on the time since her husband's death in 2008.
During that period, she was plagued by baseless rumors and malicious comments, leading her to live a life practically cut off from the outside world. She recalled, “I had no courage or energy to fight against the rumors that swept over me like a tidal wave, so I just hid away,” adding, “For years, I dreamt of being buried alive.”
A pivotal moment that changed her mindset came unexpectedly. After her husband's passing, Jung wanted to erase past memories and called a portal site to request the removal of photos of her in mourning attire. However, she received a soulless response from the staff, saying, "We can't delete them."
Jung shared, “It was a cold remark, but it felt refreshing, like a weight lifted off my shoulders.” She realized that if she couldn't erase the past, she could cover it with something better, and she began to smile again.
Jung noted that returning to everyday life was more challenging than overcoming the pain. She emphasized the value of ordinary life, saying, "I didn't realize how precious it was to eat meals and go grocery shopping."
