Ryu Hyun-jin Purchases Luxury Villa in Seoul's Gangnam District for $5.3 Million in Cash

Major League Baseball pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin has made headlines with his recent real estate acquisition in Seoul. In January, Ryu purchased a luxury villa in the upscale neighborhood of Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, for 6.4 billion KRW (approximately $5.3 million USD) entirely in cash. The property is jointly owned with his wife, announcer Bae Ji-hyun.

According to real estate industry sources and the Supreme Court Registry Office, Ryu acquired a 242 square meter (approximately 2,605 square feet) unit in the 'Alphaheim House' complex. The ownership registration was completed this month. The absence of a mortgage on the registry indicates that the purchase was made entirely with cash.

What is Alphaheim House?
Alphaheim House is a small-scale high-end villa located in the luxury residential belt around Dosan Park. Although it was built in the early 2000s, the villa maintains its exclusivity by limiting the number of units to around 20, focusing on large-sized units.

What about the surrounding infrastructure?
The area around the park is filled with galleries, brunch cafes, and fine dining restaurants, offering a lifestyle where dining and cultural experiences are within walking distance. The proximity to the Apgujeong Rodeo commercial district enhances access to shopping, dining, and entertainment.

The area also boasts strong educational infrastructure. Nearby, there are schools like Shingu Middle School, and the Dosan Park area is known for its concentration of private educational facilities, including arts and language academies.
