Lee Hwi-jae Returns to TV After 4 Years with 'Immortal Songs' Appearance

Korean entertainer Lee Hwi-jae has announced his return to television after a four-year hiatus. The news gained attention when it was revealed that a supportive meal box was prepared for him at the recording of 'Immortal Songs'.

On the 16th, pre-show MC Bae Young-hyun shared on his social media, "And a touching stage, meeting Hwi-jae hyung after a long time!" along with several photos. The photos showed the cue sheet for 'Immortal Songs' and a meal box with the message, 'Enjoy your meal. Supporting Lee Hwi-jae's stage'. This sparked speculation that Lee's wife, influencer Moon Jung-won, might have been behind the gesture.

Lee Hwi-jae participated in the recording of the KBS 2TV 'Immortal Songs' 2026 Celebrity King of Kings Special at the KBS New Building Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The recording also featured Jo Hye-ryun, Hong Seok-cheon, Park Jun-hyung, Song Il-gook, Oh Man-seok, Moon Se-yoon, Kim Shin-young, Cheon Dan-bi, the 'Gag Concert' Chatflix team, Lee Chan-seok, and Lalal.

Previously, Lee Hwi-jae gained popularity by appearing on the KBS parenting show 'The Return of Superman' in 2013 with his twin sons. However, he faced criticism for inappropriate remarks and behavior, followed by family-related controversies involving his wife Moon Jung-won, such as hidden advertising, noise complaints, and a theme park toy incident, leading to a temporary halt in his activities.

Meanwhile, Lee Hwi-jae, who had been living in Canada amid retirement rumors, has returned to TV with 'Immortal Songs' after four years. Some speculate that this appearance might mark the beginning of his comeback. The 'Immortal Songs' team explained that his appearance was a one-time invitation based on his past as a singer.
