Korean Singer Kim Heung-gook Shifts Focus from Politics to Soccer Support
On the 19th, Kim will officially begin his role as the president of the soccer support group 'Chuksamo' at its inaugural ceremony held at the Seoul Club Hall on the 18th floor of the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Kim expressed, "Many people have come together with a shared love for Korean soccer," adding, "I hope this becomes an opportunity for the nation to unite once again in support of our national team as we approach the North and Central America World Cup."
Kim has previously been involved in soccer-related activities, drawing on his connection with former Korea Football Association president Chung Mong-joon.
Kim's political involvement had sparked controversy due to his participation in political rallies and statements. He has since announced his intention to step back from politics and return to his entertainment career through personal channels.
Explaining his decision to halt political activities, Kim stated, "Our right-wing entertainers have risked their lives for political support. It was very challenging, and when younger colleagues see no events, no broadcasts, nothing, it pains me as a senior. I felt it was right to show them that we should return to our main profession."
