Former Sechs Kies Member Jang Su-won Opens Up About Past Financial Struggles and Current Life

Former Sechs Kies member Jang Su-won recently shared his past financial struggles.

On the 14th, Jang appeared as a guest on the YouTube show 'Joking Party 2'.

During the show, Jang updated fans on his life, revealing that he is currently raising an 18-month-old child. He admitted, "Raising a child isn't easy," but added with a smile, "These days, my child is starting to understand and express themselves, which is incredibly cute."

He continued, "In the past, it was tough when the baby wouldn't sleep or kept crying, but now that we can communicate a bit, parenting feels more enjoyable." He emphasized that his main focus now is parenting, saying, "I spend most of my time with my child."

Jang also reflected on his time with Sechs Kies, noting, "Back then, contracts weren't always properly written. Many times, we worked based on verbal agreements," highlighting the challenging conditions of the idol industry at the time. He recalled, "The financial system wasn't as transparent as it is now, so it wasn't easy to make a lot of money as an idol."

Jang revealed that he won a lottery for an apartment in Jamsil around 2018, but faced financial difficulties due to a lack of funds for the down payment. "I had to find a way to gather the money, so I took on various jobs to make ends meet," he shared.

Discussing his less active periods, Jang said, "I resurfaced with some minor roles when things were tough, and then reunited with Sechs Kies when things were quiet. Opportunities seemed to come just when I needed them." He also mentioned his current venture, "I'm now running a restaurant in Boracay that sells crab and shrimp dishes."

The topic of his 'robotic acting' was also brought up. Jang's expressionless acting style in a past drama became a talking point, with the hosts jokingly referring to it as "AI-like acting." Jang acknowledged this, explaining, "I tried to act with minimal effort, aiming to deliver exactly what the director wanted."

Regarding his current hiatus from acting, Jang stated, "I enjoy spending time with my child these days. It's the most important thing to me right now," but he left the door open for future opportunities, saying, "If a good opportunity arises, I might return to acting."
