Actress Han Ga-in Sparks Debate on Overprotective Parenting with Subway Mission Video
On October 5th, the YouTube channel 'Free Woman Han Ga-in' uploaded a video titled 'Shocking Incident During Han Ga-in's Kids' First Subway Errand.' In the video, Han Ga-in announced that her younger son had received his elementary school admission notice.
She explained, "Next week is my son's pre-enrollment day, and he needs to learn to be independent without mom. So, I'm giving him a mission." Han Ga-in added that due to their neighborhood's characteristics, her children rarely had the opportunity to ride the subway, thus giving them a subway mission.
Her eldest daughter humorously remarked, "Mom has a tendency to be overprotective. I'm not Rapunzel, you know," which lightened the mood. As the siblings embarked on their subway errand, they joked, "Honestly, mom thinks we're fools," bringing laughter.
The video prompted mixed reactions online. Some viewers agreed with the daughter's perspective, commenting, "Parents tend to be overprotective," and "This seems like a challenge for the mom." Others empathized with Han Ga-in, saying, "All parents feel the same. It's not overprotection; the world is just too scary these days," and "I was worried about sending my child on the subway alone until they were in middle school."
Han Ga-in married actor Yeon Jung-hoon in 2005, and they have an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. Their home is a luxury villa in the Sindang-dong area of Jung-gu, Seoul, known as the 'Korean Beverly Hills' due to the many celebrities residing there.
