Korean Broadcaster An Sun-young Opens Up About Personal Struggles and Plans for YouTube Channel Revamp

Korean broadcaster An Sun-young has candidly shared her complex family situation and personal reflections as she prepares to revamp her YouTube channel.

On the 29th, a video titled 'This is An Sun-young. I'm Sorry for Not Speaking Up Until Now' was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'An Sun-young's Double Life' (formerly 'This is An Sun-young'). In the video, An appeared with a bare face and a neat suit, addressing her audience.

An Sun-young began by saying, "I apologize. As of today, the 'This is An Sun-young' YouTube channel will be closed. I'm sorry." She continued, "I started YouTube with the decision to live without worrying about others' opinions, but I realized I wasn't considerate enough. I was only talking about what I wanted to say."

She explained, "While there are many compliments on the long-form content, I noticed a lot of negative comments on the short-form videos. I think I came across as too arrogant." An announced her plans to revamp the channel, stating, "I am confident that I have lived diligently, but I think I became unlikable because I wasn't close to the subscribers. I even considered abandoning the channel altogether. However, I believe I should clean up my own mess. Therefore, the 'This is An Sun-young' channel, which I've been running for two years, will close today, and I will start anew with a completely new channel."

Notably, she drew attention by revealing her complicated family situation. An Sun-young disclosed that she is currently living separately from her husband. She said, "My son hates it the most when his parents fight, and I'm sorry for showing him that too often. We've agreed not to break our relationship as parents and to raise our child together."

She added, "I grew up as the only daughter of a very poor widow in a destitute village. In a fairy tale, I should have met a prince on a white horse and lived a luxurious life, but my fate seems to be tough and unfortunate." Despite this, she expressed her hope that viewers would see her finding joy every day and living with an incredible sense of positivity, which is the message she wants to convey through her channel."
