Pop star Britney Spears has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence in California.

According to reports on the 5th (local time), Britney Spears was arrested on the 4th in Ventura, California, for DUI but was released the following day. The California Highway Patrol stated, "We observed Spears' vehicle driving erratically at high speed and conducted a sobriety test on the spot." They added, "Spears was arrested for driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol."

Spears' spokesperson released a statement saying, "There is no excuse for her actions," and added, "Britney is committed to getting on the right path and following the law, and we hope this marks the first step in a positive change in her life."

Previously, Britney Spears was charged in 2007 for a hit-and-run incident involving property damage. She has since struggled with substance abuse and various scandals. This led to her being under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears, until 2023, when it was revealed that he had emotionally abused her for over 13 years, resulting in a legal battle.
