Actress and Entrepreneur Koo Hye-sun Addresses Pricing of Her Patented Hair Roller 'Kooroll'

Actress and venture company CEO Koo Hye-sun has spoken out about the pricing of her patented hair roller, 'Kooroll', just three months after its launch.

On the 5th, Koo shared a photo of herself wearing the Kooroll on her personal social media, explaining, "Unlike traditional round hair rollers, Kooroll eliminates over 80% of plastic. While round rollers can tangle and soil hair, Kooroll can be unfolded for easy hair removal and self-restoration. Its durability allows for permanent use."

Regarding the product's price, she added, "The initial manufacturing quantity was small, leading to high production costs, which is why the current price is on the higher side. However, we plan to offer discounts over time to make it more affordable for consumers."

Previously, on the 4th, Koo shared a link to the sales website of her hair roller along with a photo from her KAIST graduation on social media. The fact that the patented hair roller is priced at 13,000 KRW each sparked debate online. Some criticized the price as being too high compared to existing rollers, while others defended it, citing the cost of innovation and suggesting, "If it's too expensive, don't buy it."

Meanwhile, Koo Hye-sun has been accepted into KAIST's graduate program for 2024 and graduated early in just a year and a half. The Kooroll, which she helped develop, was also recognized with an Excellent Patent Award last year.
