Chef Kwon Sung-joon Becomes Building Owner with $42 Million Purchase

'Napoli Mafia' Chef Kwon Sung-joon has become a building owner.

According to industry sources on the 4th, Chef Kwon Sung-joon purchased a building located at 366-38 Sindang-dong last month for 5.65 billion KRW (approximately $42 million).

Built in 1989, the building has a land area of 185㎡ and a total floor area of 359㎡, spanning from a basement to four above-ground floors. It is a two-minute walk from Exit 7 of Yaksu Station on Subway Lines 3 and 6.

The building was last sold in 2020 for 2.85 billion KRW, and Chef Kwon's recent purchase price of 5.65 billion KRW marks a doubling in value over six years. The land price per 3.3㎡ also nearly doubled from 50.89 million KRW in 2020 to 100.96 million KRW this year.

Chef Kwon plans to operate a fine dining restaurant on the first and second floors of the building.

Meanwhile, Chef Kwon gained fame after winning Season 1 of 'Black and White Chef' and has appeared on various shows such as JTBC's 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator' and Netflix's 'The Great Bake'.
