Yoon Dae-man Reflects on Winning Disney+ 'War of Destiny 49'

Shaman Yoon Dae-man shares his thoughts on winning Disney+ 'War of Destiny 49'.

On the 5th, Yoon Dae-man posted on his social media, "I had a deep time of contemplation and reflection before participating in this broadcast." He continued, "I repeatedly thought about whether I might bring any dishonor to the teachers who have walked this path silently for many years, and whether my own learning and capacity were still lacking. Although I have not neglected my studies and practices, the task of showcasing Hanyang-gut in a public setting carries a significant responsibility, so I approached it with a more reverent heart."

Yoon Dae-man revealed, "Some ask why I bring to light what should remain in the shadows." He added, "However, I believe that those who uphold the righteous path already stand in the light by their own illumination. Our indigenous faith, which has been recognized as a national intangible heritage and a cultural heritage of cities and provinces, is a precious tradition that has breathed with our history for half a millennium, and a valuable cultural heritage imbued with the life and spirit of this land." He explained, "It was unfortunate to see the original value being blurred due to some distorted images, and I decided to participate to contribute, even in a small way, to convey the right image and sincerity."

Yoon Dae-man expressed, "I deeply appreciate the warm interest and support you have shown." He also added, "I will continue to firmly uphold our unique values, comfort those in hardship, and practice empathy and sharing. I will not cease learning about gut and rituals, and will always walk the righteous path with humility. I sincerely offer my gratitude."

Yoon Dae-man is a shaman with a background in Korean traditional music, now in his fifth year. He emerged as the winner in the final episode of 'War of Destiny 49', which aired on the 4th. 'War of Destiny 49' is a survival show where 49 fortune tellers gather to test their fate through various missions. The program faced controversy over a mission involving guessing the cause of death of the deceased, which was criticized for disrespecting the deceased and inappropriate comments by the hosts.
