Will Director Jang Hang-jun Keep His Promise as 'The King and the Man' Nears 10 Million Viewers?
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets on the 4th, 'The King and the Man' (directed by Jang Hang-jun) has surpassed 9.4 million viewers as of its 28th day in theaters. With the countdown to 10 million now underway, Director Jang's promise is gaining attention.
In January, during an appearance on SBS PowerFM's 'Bae Sung-jae's Ten' (hereafter 'Bae Ten'), Director Jang stated, "If it reaches 10 million, I will change my phone number, undergo plastic surgery, change my name, and naturalize in another country so that no one can recognize me." As the film nears the 10 million mark, fans are eagerly anticipating whether Director Jang will fulfill his promise.
Meanwhile, the film 'The King and the Man' is set in 1457 in Cheongnyeongpo and tells the story of village chief Eom Heung-do (played by Yoo Hae-jin), who voluntarily exiles himself to revive the village, and the young dethroned king Danjong (played by Park Ji-hoon), who is exiled there.
